VTS December blow out sale!

In time for the holidays I'm offering an absolutely bonkers blow out sale on the entire catalog of back issue Video Tutorial Service (VTS) animation training videos in my online store. For those of you who don't know, the VTS videos were made over the course of 5 and a half years where I made a new video each month for my paid subscribers. Earlier this year I shut down the subscription service due to work obligations and time constraints, but the videos are still available as back issues. Overall there are 64 videos (the first two I made are free on my Youtube channel), covering a ton of different topics on animation. Each video is about 45 minutes long on average, so we're talking about nearly 60 hours of animation training videos (that's a lot of video). Anyhow, the regular price for each back issue VTS video is $18.95, but starting today the price has been slashed by almost 75% to just $4.95 each

That's not a typo. Each VTS video is now under $5. You think that's crazy, wait until you hear this: If you buy all all 60+ videos in a bundle you can get them for $3.95 each, or $240.00. What does Otto think of these prices?

Even Schmitty is at a loss for words....

So if you never got any VTS videos now is your chance to get them. Did you buy some in the past, but couldn't get as many as you wanted? Now is the perfect time to complete your collection. Has downloading them from a pirate torrent left you feeling guilty? A clear conscience has never been so cheap!  Heehee.

So if you're an animator, an animation student, or even just mildly interested in animation- this is the deal for you. Want to get a cool, practical holiday gift for the animator in your life? VTS videos are the way to go. Purely 100% digital delivery means no wrapping or postage. I'd even say these videos will make you a better person/laundry washer/lover/pet owner, but I don't want to over-reach.

Anyhow, even if you're not interested in getting any VTS videos, feel free to pass on the news. The prices are scheduled to go back to normal Jan 1st, 2011, so get cracking!

Was never particularly impressed with the quality in regards to content. After watching most of the VTSs' I was always left thinking 'Is that it?' In my opinion there was too much waffle and not enough information. Spent about 400-500 dollars before I finally gave up on them.

I recently bought the Mike Walling walk-throughs and they are much closer to the standard I was expecting. Concise and to the point and by somone with some true feature-film animation credentials.

Sorry Keith just expressing an opinion.

@Anon: Thanks for the feedback. I realized often while making the VTS over those 5+ years that I was treating it more like a conversation and less like a class and as such I often didn't succinctly make my points. I got better at it in later years. I'll admit it's hard to teach in an empty room to a camera- there's no silent body language feedback from students to let you know if a point is getting taught well, so the natural tendency is to maybe repeat it. I much prefer teaching with live students in the same space. I know there is no one thing that works for all people. Glad you found something that worked for you, though. In the end that's what matters. But again, sincere thanks for the feedback.

I gotta say, there is much that could be better with some of Keiths Videos, but for me personally, he took the time to explain important, more esoteric things like subtext, and things that aren't always fun to 'watch' but information thats really hard to come by. It's easy to have a great animator pick a great shot and animate it well. I've seen that so many times. But to actually try discuss the thought process, and to take the time to go through different types of characters, not just the one in your shot, i think is important. At times I also got bored if I did understand something the first time, but each person has an area in animation where they have to be told something many times, and in many different ways. (i am an example of this, kept making the same damn errors over and over, and had to be told several times, doh!). I also think this has lead to a popularity of these tutorails for people who dont speak english as a first language. Just my opinion.
