Not sure how this flew under my radar, but I'm glad I caught it all the same. I came across this from a new post on Jamaal Bradley's Pencil Test Depot blog (great blog, by the way!) The animators Tim Watts & David Stoten roughed the animation in pencil first (see it here on Pencil Test), then animated it stop-mo. Here's the final version....

This is so exciting. I worked with Tim on 'Where the wild things are', and Despereaux. What a lovley guy, and what a pleasure to work with him, such an eye for animation. He has always had an afinity for the classic film stars

But seeing as the film was done 2 years ago I can see why I missed it. That was a really hectic/crazy time in my life. Lots of stuff flew under my radar then. heh.
Great stuff!! I worked with Tim Watts in London as well. Amazing traditional animator, 3d animator, concept artist and all around great guy!
Woah! It's much older than that guys. I remember seeing this at the Cardiff International Animation festival in '94 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109270/)
I've since had the pleasure of working with Tim and David on Corpse Bride. Tim sort of got "type cast" as the close up guy. His stop motion facial subtlety is beautiful in that film. A gentleman of British animation.
Hey, the animation (especially the timing) is so sweet in this I couldn't follow the story the first time around because I was so involved with the movement. I had to watch it again.
